Motorhoming in the Yorkshire Dales: Woodhouse Farm

December 1, 2014

The beautiful and tranquil setting of the Yorkshire Dales is perfect for you and your family to escape to in a campervan. Woodhouse Farm, located just outside of Nidderdale – a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty – has everything you need from a campsite in the Dales, with beautiful views, modern facilities and enough to keep everyone entertained.

The site has everything

The family-owned site has several pitches perfect for motorhomes with all the essentials you’ll need for your holiday. Clean hot showers are available at all times, with modern toilets including a family bathroom and baby changing rooms. The onsite shop has everything you need in case you forget any of these essentials – and a licensed restaurant is onsite for when you’d rather relinquish cooking duties.

If your family can’t live without its four-legged friend, the site welcomes dogs and has a two acre walking route where you can let your dog off the lead.

The kids will never be bored

Woodhouse Farm has three activity centres designed for children of all ages, including two play forts – one designed for children under six and another for under 14s – and a play barn with a climbing wall, table tennis, pool table and foosball table. There’s also a cycle track around the park which is ideal for families, and two fishing lakes meaning you won’t be ever be bored onsite.

Explore the Dales – on foot, bike or even horseback

If, after enjoying the cycle path around the park, you want to continue on your bike – there are mountain bike routes all over the Dales, offering a fun way to discover the untouched beauty of the Dales.

If you’re not into cycling, check out one of the many walking routes the Dales have to offer – taking you through the picturesque countryside, filled with cattle, sheep and wildlife including rabbits, hares, pheasants and deer. If you want to get really close to animals, horse riding is another great way to explore the area. Whether you’ve never tried it before or you’re an expert, there are also a ton of riding facilities nearby for you and your family, such as Bogs Hall Stables  and Masham Riding Centre.

Even more fun to be had away from the site

Woodhouse Farm is handily located on the edge of the Dales, with more family-fun activities just a stone throw away. Ripon, Harrogate and York are just three of the beautiful historic cities located nearby, with gorgeous architecture and several museums – and there are even a number of country homes and castles a short drive away from Woodhouse Farm, such as Middleham Castle and Bolton Abbey.

The Dales are also home to many beautiful caves for you and your children to go explore – such as Stump Cross Caverns, which is just a short drive to Nidderdale and has some of the best show caves in the country. If you prefer to stay above ground, Brimham Rocks are a perfect way of discovering the beauty of the moors – with these fascinating rock formations providing magnificent views of Nidderdale and the surrounding Dales.

And if you fancy introducing some white-knuckle thrills to your holiday, Lightwater Valley Amusement Park is just a 15 minute drive from Woodhouse Farm – with family rides and exhilarating roller coasters galore.
