Motorhome Review: Rapido 640

March 25, 2015

With its compact appearance and innovative styling, it’s no wonder the Rapido 640 was the winner of Motorhome of the Year 2014. In our Rapido 640 review, we’ll take a look at all this mini motorhome has to offer.

Design

If you’re looking to purchase a motorhome, don’t let the compact design of the Rapido 640 put you off. At 6.5 metres long, it’s not as long as we might expect from a typical motorhome – but in this case, size really isn’t everything. Most Rapido motorhome reviews focusing on the 640 comment on one thing: space. But don’t let looks deceive you, the Rapido 640 is a worthy adversary for the roomiest of motorhomes.

Interior

Looking from the outside, you’d be forgiven for wondering how all the essential features could possibly fit – but in this Rapido motorhome, they do! Starting with the transverse kitchen which is positioned in the doorway, maximising space, the interior continues to impress throughout. Complete with a hob, sink and a small slide-out shelf, the mini-kitchen ensures every inch of space is fully utilised.

The lounge area is small but perfectly adequate for two people and able to accommodate four if necessary. The two side seats also transform into passenger seats or fold down to make a single bed and, if you opt for the 640B, an extra electric bed comes down from the ceiling. With two sun roofs and several windows, the Rapido 640 brings in a lot of light – making the lounge feel bigger than it actually is. Fabrics throughout the motorhome come in a range of options, including faux and real leather. While other Rapido motorhomes don’t make the most of their interior, the 640 economises on space in several areas – but still manages to fit in a large fridge freezer, with an oven and grill above.

If privacy is what you’re looking for, a sliding partition allows the main sleeping area to be separated from the rest of the motorhome. Space here is also well used, with the toilet and shower in the corner of the sleeping area – and a separate wash basin just through the door. The corner island bed is also a new innovation in space-saving design.

Price

If you’re looking to spend more time on the road, a motorhome might be just the thing you’ve been looking for. Whether it’s a night under the stars or a tour around the coast, the Rapido 640 motorhome could be just what you need – and you can get your hands on one from £49,700.
