It’s 4.4m internal length means the central area of this Sterling caravan is smaller than in some other tourers, but the space is fully utilised. This 2 berth caravan comes with new white facings which contrast well with the extended range of upholstery options – and new tap designs and worktop surfaces add to the modernised feel of the Sport 442. A number of overhead storage lockers mean the interior doesn’t appear cluttered, while the sun roof lets in lots of light, giving the caravan a more spacious feel.

In terms of design, the 2014 facelift has greatly improved the Sterling Eccles Sport and new timberless construction has been put in place to make the caravan more water resistant than ever before. The impressive style overhaul and modernised interior make this Sterling Eccles more aesthetically appealing and a worthy winner of Tourer of the Year for 2014.

Stepping inside the Sterling Eccles, entrance to the caravan is assisted by the LED strip lighting above the door, making it easy to find your way in the dark. Moving into the small kitchen area, space is fully utilised by tucking the fridge neatly away under the sink area. Despite its size, there are plenty of worktops to prepare meals – and a pop up table can be used for an extra surface, as well as another work surface directly opposite the kitchen area. A full sized oven is to the right of the fridge and overhead storage includes extra lockers and a microwave.

The large washroom at the rear spans the width of the caravan and is surprisingly spacious, with a vanity unit neatly placed under the modern washbasin. The living space has also received an update, with turquoise scatter cushions complementing the standard tweed effect upholstery – and this area also converts to provide a makeshift bedroom. In terms of sleeping arrangements, the bench seats can be kept as two single beds or convert into a decent sized double.

At £16,675, this tourer is reasonably priced and an ideal option for couples looking to take life out onto the open road. If you’ve been admiring the impressive range of Sterling caravans from afar, now could be the time to take action and make your purchase!
