Caravan Review: Elddis Xplore 304

March 2, 2015

Having been in production since 1964, Elddis Caravans have made their name in the caravan and motorhome industry as pioneers of stylish and affordable caravans – with innovative design elements such as their SoLid Construction. All modern Elddis Caravans feature the SoLid Construction, which is designed to make them stronger, lighter and dryer for a better class of caravan. Not only that, but buying an Elddis means you also get membership into the Elddis Owners Club, which is one of the oldest caravanning clubs in the UK.

In today’s Elddis Xplore review, we’re giving you the lowdown on the Elddis Xplore 304 to see what it has to offer today’s thrifty caravanner.

As one of the lightest caravans on the market, the entry level Xplore 304 is full of great design – from the SoLid Construction exterior to its unique layouts – and it’s the perfect touring caravan for small families or couples who want a bit of extra space. Its low MTPLM makes it incredibly light, and it’s nice and compact for towing too – but there’s still plenty of space on offer inside amidst plush furnishings.

From the outside, you might assume the Elddis Xplore is going to be cramped and limiting inside, especially with 4 sleeping berths. But you’ll be pleasantly surprised to hear that the L-shaped lounge feels very spacious and is flooded with lots of natural light, thanks in no small part to the portrait-side and panoramic-front windows. The lounge seats swiftly transform into a 2 person sleeping berth and are easily folded back away during the day.

The other two berths are located in the rear, with the dinette transforming from seating to a bed and offering another bunk above it. Elddis have definitely made the most of the space inside, providing a compact yet well-equipped kitchen. With plenty of appliances and storage space for pots, pans and food, you can cook up a storm wherever you are. The washroom is a touch on the modest side but still has everything you’ll need to be comfortable and completely self-sufficient.

The usual care and attention to detail has definitely been taken with the Elddis Xplore 304. For extra strength and stability, it features an AL-KO galvanised steel chassis – as well as a full height, high gloss stone-chip resistant front panel for added protection.

With all the mod cons you’ll need away from home, such as a rapid heat-up 8L water heater, a three ring gas hob and an incredible amount of storage, the Elddis Caravan designers have clearly thought through how to maximise customer comfort and functionality.
